Selling the dream by Richard Dixon

The last couple of days have been fun getting stuck in on the front line promoting our Family Holidays Franchise opportunity at the Franchise Show UK in London.

There were all kinds of weird and wonderful businesses there vying for the attention of prospective franchisees. Amongst them of course were people selling the dream as if it was easy.

“Earn 5k a month working part-time hours!” was a particular favourite of mine. Why do people fall for this kind of BS?

Get real guys, there is no such thing as easy money. The pathway to wealth is paved with blood, sweat and tears. Accept that, and then get on it every day/week/month and wealth and some easier money may just come your way. But it won’t happen without the graft.

There is a travel franchise opportunity in the market that consistently talks about a “six figure income” from your “lifestyle business” in their promotional activity.

Now I know a good deal of people who have built fantastic travel homeworking businesses from scratch for themselves and are now reaping significant rewards. Every single one I have spoken to worked their absolutes arses off to get to where they are, especially through years 1-3.

If you want it, go and get it. Just don’t fall for the easy money lifestyle rubbish. Your money will be easily slipping into the hands of the dream sellers whilst you discover that the dream itself isn’t quite so easily attained.
